The Gokyo Cho-La Pass trek has been called as one of the most challenging treks in the world and rightly so. The trek takes adventure seekers through difficult, almost un-passable terrains, with immaculate views of the mountain peaks peeking out from a distance. The streak spans through the entire upper Khumbu region and covers the passage to the Everest Base Camp. The trek starts off from Lukla and takes trekkers into the “Gateway to the Everest”, Namche Bazaar, from here trekkers cross the Dudh Koshi and reach the Everest Base Camp (5550m) by passing through Tengboche and Dingboche. From here, we veer off the main trail into the Cho La Pass standing proud and tall at 5422 m. views from the pass are absolutely breathtaking and so is the journey that lies ahead. After passing the grazing settlement of Yak Kharka, we reach the tranquil atmosphere of the Gokyo Lakes. Climb the Gokyo Ri peak for panoramic mountain scenery and retrace the steps back to bring the trek to an end. Day 1 :

Arrival in Kathmandu

You will arrive from your respective locations in the capital of the beautiful country Nepal. Kathmandu is home to exquisite architectural beauty and historical importance. After arriving in the capital, you will be transferred to the respective hotel and the afternoon is free for exploration around the capital. No meals included.

Day 2 :

Sightseeing around Kathmandu

Kathmandu is home to exquisite architectural delights that are worth exploring. These locations showcase the craftsmanship and unique history of this nation. We will visit the Patan Durbar Square and the Kathmandu Durbar Square today. Breakfast included.

Day 3 :

Kathmandu- Lukla- Phakding (2610m)

We will commence the trek today. The day starts off with the scenic flight in the world, the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This flight is both an exhilarating and a scenic one. With sights of mountain peaks like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam shining in the distance, we land in the Kula Airport from Kathmandu. From here, we trek to Phakding through Cheeplung and Ghat. Approximately 45 minutes of flight. Approximately 2-3 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 4 :

Phakding- Namche Bazaar (3480m)

The trail starts off as we cross the Dudh Koshi River and climb to Toktak. The trail keeps close to the river today and is beautified with the presence of pine and rhododendron forests. We cross a blissful waterfall and enter the Sagarmatha National Park through Monzo. Cross the village of Jorsale and we climb steeply to the “Gateway to the Everest”, Namche Bazaar. Approximately 5-6 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 5 :

Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

Acclimatization is key to success in a trek and this day has been separated for achieving the same. We have the option to explore the perfect views of the great mountains including Mt. Everest (8848), Lhotse (8516m), Lhotse Shar (8382m), Nuptse (7879m), peak- 38(7591m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Thamserku (6623m), Kangtega (6783m), Kusum Kanguru (6367), Cholaste (6335m), Tabuche peak (6495m), Khumbi La (5765m) and Kwangde Ri (6011m) from atop the Thame Monastery. We can also move on to visit the villages of Khunde and Khumjung. Approximately 3-4 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 6 :

Namche Bazaar- Khumjung (3840m)

This is a yet another easy day as we gradually climb further upwards to reach the village of Khumjung, the path is lined with forests of rhododendron and pine, and will take us through exquisite views of the mountain peaks, to the village of Khumjung, the Khumjung village is situated beneath the Khumbila peak. Approximately 4 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 7 :

Khumjung- Dole (4000m)

The trail starts off with a gradual climb to reach Sanasa. From here, the paths to the Everest Base Camp Trek and the Gokyo Valley trek forks out. We continue further upwards to reach the Mongla Danda, offering the close-up and magnificent views of the Mt. Ama Dablam. Descend downwards to Phortse Tanga and cross juniper forests to reach the village of Dole. Approximately 5-6 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 08 :

Dole- Macchermo (4400m)

We climb gradually along the side of the valley to leave behind the treeline and experience barren landscapes. We pass through several summer settlements and with excellent views of the Cho Oyu, Kangtega, Thamserku, Lhabarma and Luza cheering us on, we reach the settlement of Macchermo. Approximately 5 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 09 :

Macchermo- Gokyo Lake (4750m)

Today, we start off by climbing a ridge which offers excellent views of the Kangtega valley and the mighty Cho Oyu Mountain. The trail gradually descends to reach the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We climb steeply up the moraine and reach the Longponga Lake, filled with Brahmin ducks. We come across another blue lake called as the Taujung. A further trek will offer with us the excellent miracle of the beautiful Gokyo Lake (4750m). Approximately 5 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 10 :

Climb Gokyo Ri (5350m)- Thagnak (4850m)

Today is a fairly difficult day as we climb the Gokyo Ri. Gokyo Ri offers the spectacle of the massive Ngozumpa glacier and the entire Gokyo Valley spreading far. The mountain giants like Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nutose, Cholastse, Tabuche and Gychung Kang appear in full glory before us. After experiencing the spectacle offered by the Gokyo Ri, we return back to Gokyo and ascend down to Thagnak. Approximately 8-9 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 11 :

Thagnak- Cho La Pass (5368m) – Dzongla (4800m)

This is yet another important day of the trek as we cross the difficult terrain of the Cho La Pass. A glacier traverse on the eastern side makes crossing the glacier a difficult deal. The views before us get captivating as we move further, and we reach the side of a frozen lake. The Cho La Pass is decorated with prayer flags and the pass joins the Khumbu valley with the Gokyo Valley. The views of Kyajo Ri, number, Kangchung and Tengkanpoche appear in full glory before us, as we move downwards to Dzongla. Dzongla is also home to views of the perfect panorama of Ama Dablam and Cholatse peaks. Approximately 5-6 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 12 :

Dzongla- Lobuche (4910m)

This is a comparatively easier day in contrast to the other days of the trek. We move through an ascending and descending path to reach Lobuche. The excellent views of Nuptse Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and Lobuche peak cheer us through the way. Approximately 6 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 13 :

Lobuche- Everest Base Camp (5500m)- Gorakshep (5180m)

Today we will be reaching the base camp of the mighty Everest. We start off the trek through the western side of the Khumbu valley and pass through a rocky path. The trekking trial offers the majestic panorama of Nuptse, Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Lobuche east etc. through several bands, we reach Gorakshep and continue our way up to the Everest Base Camp. The aforementioned mountains appear in full glory all around us, but what appears most interesting is the impressive Khumbu icefall. We make our way back to Gorakshep after a tiring day and call it a night. Approximately 10 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 14 :

Gorakshep- Kalapatthar (5545m)- Dingboche (4345m)

Yet another difficult yet interesting day as well will be climbing the Kalapatthar peak. The magnificent views of the aforementioned peaks give way from atop the peak. All the camps of the Everest expedition also appear clearly from a top the Kalapathar peak. Excellent panorama of the peaks of the Everest region, along with the Khumbu Icefall makes the moment worth capturing into a frame. After this incredible experience, we continue downward to Dugla. From here, we cross the Dusa village at the head of the Imja Khola, in order to reach Dingboche. Approximately 10-11 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 15 :

Dingboche- Tengboche (3890m)

We cross the Khumbu Khola Bridge early in the morning, in order to make our way to the beautiful summer settlement of Tengboche. We reach Tengboche through Somare and Pangboche. Tengboche is home to the historical Tengboche monastery, which offers the perfect views of the Everest region in full glory. This monastery is considered to be the religious center of the “Sherpa Land” of Khumbu region. Approximately 5-6 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 16 :

Tengboche- Namche Bazaar

With heavy hearts, it is finally time to bid goodbye to the Sagarmatha National Park and reach Namche bazaar. We trek back along the Dudh Koshi River through rhododendron and juniper forests. We will also cross some waterfalls along the way. Approximately 5-6 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 17 :

Namche Bazaar- Lukla

Retrace the path back to the plateau of Lukla today, if time permits, we can also visit the Hillary-Tenzing school situated beside the river. Approximately 6-7 hours of trek. BLD included.

Day 18 :

Lukla- Kathmandu

It is time to bid goodbye to the Khumbu region and fly back to Kathmandu, in one of the most adventurous flights in the world. Approximately 45 minutes of flight. BLD included.

Day 19 :

Optional free day in Katmandu

For those interested to further explore the architectural beauty and diversity of Nepal, an optional tour can be scheduled. We will visit the Pashupatinath temple early in the morning. After this, we will visit the Buddhist center of Kathmandu, Boudhanath. In the better part of the evening, we will explore the beauty of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and its laid back beauty. Breakfast included.

Day 20 :

Departure

It is finally time to bid goodbye to this nation and its laid back beauty, only with a promise to come back for more. you will return home content, for having experienced one of the most incredible treks in Nepal, and also for having helped marginalized communities living in Nepal.
